With summer and backyard barbecues coming around, there’s nothing like a good, juicy burger. I’m talking the drip down your chin, piled high with toppings, and nearly too big to bite kind of burger. But we’re moving burgers to the next level: stuffed burgers. We like to call them cantina burgers.
Imagine biting down into a soft, tasty bun on top of crisp lettuce, tomato, and zesty condiments followed by a bite of that juicy burger stuffed with ooey-gooey melted cheese. That’s the type of burger that’s sure to impress more than just your taste buds and maybe even the in-laws. This article will help you to rock your next backyard barbecue with the best stuffed burgers.
Make Stuffed Burgers in 3 Easy Steps
Step 1: Fill the Burger Press
Divide the meat into equal portions (we use 6 ounces per patty), split the portions in half and press a half into either side of the burger press.

Step 2: Stuff the Burger
Use the insert to flatten the patties on either side of the press and form a pocket. Place cheese or desired fillings in this pocket.
Step 3: Seal the Burger
Using the burger press, firmly press the two patties together, sealing in the fillings. Use the excess meat from the sides to further seal the edges and shape the burger. Gently lift your burger out of the press and cook it to your preferences. Enjoy!

Bacon and Blue Cheese Stuffed Burger
People who dislike blue cheese may not be so quick to try this bacon and blue cheese burger, but one of the taste-testers from downstairs who despises blue cheese even admitted that this burger was pretty tasty. With the blue cheese mixed with cream cheese, the result is a delightfully creamy filling without so much of the power from the blue cheese. And of course, you can never go wrong with mixing in some crispy, savory bacon.
If you like blue cheese (I know I do), you can add a bit more blue cheese into the filling for a stronger flavor.
Ingredients:
For the Patty:
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 8 slices of bacon, cooked and chopped
For the Filling:
- 2 ounces crumbled blue cheese
- 2 ounces cream cheese
Recommended Toppings:
- lettuce
- tomato
Directions:
- Gently toss the ground beef with the bacon, salt, and pepper until just combined.
- Follow the directions to form the burger as shown above, stuffing the blue cheese and cream cheese in the middle.
