This is a terrific recipe that is easy to do.  You make your own simmer sauce and cook the shrimp in the sauce.

Use the shrimp over rice, with pasta, or on their own.  While they are sautéed in this recipe, they can also be skewered and cooked on the grill.  If you are going to cook the shrimp on the grill, use the simmer sauce as a marinade.

You may also use a commercial simmer sauce.  See our simmer sauces >>

Ingredients

1 pound large uncooked shrimp
3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1 teaspoon lime zest
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1 tad red pepper
1/4 cup butter
1 tablespoon chopped cilantro

Directions

  1. In preparation, peel the shrimp.
  2. For the simmer sauce:  Mix the lime juice, zest, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic cloves, salt, sugar, and red pepper together. Set aside.
  3. To sauté the shrimp:  Melt the butter in a heavy medium-sized skillet over medium heat.  Add the simmer sauce and heat for 30 seconds.
  4. Add the shrimp and sauté until they have turned pink, turning occasionally (about 3 minutes).   Stir in the chopped cilantro.  Serve hot.
